The top spot in The Times league table went to Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire, which is described as a haven for artists, musicians and New Agers, and second place to Bethnal Green in London, a magnet for hipsters. Harvey Weinstein s pregnant wife, Georgina Chapman , doled out popcorn to an Upper West Side audience Monday when a glitch stalled a test screening of the Julia Roberts - Meryl Streep drama August: Osage County. Halfway through the film, the screen went black, which the audience thought was an artistic effect until they were told a projector bulb blew. During the half-hour repair at the Lincoln Square 13, Chapman jumped into action to keep viewers in their seats. (Most stayed put, though one wiseacre called out, The film went over budget, thats why it stopped!) A spy added, The majority stayed and gave the movie high marks. Image
By: Jenny Marder In the 2000 film Erin Brockovich , Julia Roberts plays a scantily-clad file clerk in a small law firm who traces a cluster of health problems in a California desert town to a chemical in the groundwater there, and traces the chemical to a natural gas pumping station owned by Pacific Gas and Electric . In the movie, the company had used the chemical as a coolant and then dumped it into unlined holding ponds at their Hinkley, Calif., plant. The toxin leached into the groundwater and spread. On Wednesday, Miles O'Brien reported on the real story in Hinkley, what's happened since the movie debuted, and how the Hollywood ending has since gone awry . His report was done in collaboration with the Center for Public Integrity. Here's their in-depth investigation .
