New film to be produced in Syracuse is having an open casting call

Syracuse, NY -- The latest independent film to be produced in the Syracuse area will star the niece of Oscar-winner Julia Roberts and focus on an adult book store.

And you may be in it.

Adult World, starring Emma Roberts, is having an open casting call Saturday looking for extras.

Auditions will be 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., but not at Adult World, the adult book store in Syracuse. They will be at the Best Western at 6555 Old Collamer Road South in East Syracuse.

The Syracuse Film Office announced the casting call today. The film will be shot at locations around Syracuse, the office said, but those locations have not been finalized.

According to the website IMDB, Roberts is the lead for the film thats in pre-production.

The film is about a recent college graduate who believes shes destined to be a great poet instead winds up working for an adult book store, according to IMDB.

Roberts, the niece of Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts, has had roles in recent films including Scream 4, The Art of Getting By, Its Kind of a Funny Story and Whats Wrong with Virginia.

Dennis Brogan, executive director of the Syracuse Film Office, said, We are excited to again be the location for another great independent film production. Syracuse and Central New York offer great locations and a partnering business community that is film-positive and film-friendly.
