PIKEVILLE, Ky. An Aflex man is among those behind bars as a result of an undercover drug investigation.

Michael A. Martin, 27, of Aflex, was in the Pike County Detention Center at presstime, charged with one count first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

Keith Napier is the Big Sandy Task Force Manager for Operation UNITE, a drug enforcement agency. He said a roundup that began in Pike County on Tuesday was the result of undercover investigations spanning about one year.

Most of our cases were initiated through citizen tips and subsequent follow-up investigation, Napie! r said. We were able to purchase a variety of drugs primarily Oxycodone, Hydrocodone and cocaine.

Napier said two teams of officers from UNITE, the Elkhorn City Police Department, Kentucky State Police and the London DEA field office spread out to serve warrants.

Authorities are looking for suspected drug traffickers on both sides of the Tug River, with five suspects already in custody.

The other suspects were Ricky D. Johnson, Sr., 64, of Jenkins, charged with two counts first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance; Jody Scott, 41, of Mouthcard, charged with four counts first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance; Jonna Kristina Slone, 32, South Levisa Road, arrested in court Nov. 14, one count first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance; and Dennis R. Stiltner, 48, Mouthcard, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

We know that several suspects learned about the operation and fled across the state line into West Virginia, Napier noted about 2 p.m. Tuesday. We are continuing to search for other individuals and expect additional arrests soon.
