Julia Roberts has spoken about the death of her father at the 2012 Stand Up To Cancer Event.

The Notting Hill star was only ten years old when her father, Walter Grady Roberts, succumbed to the disease, but says that she still remembers him 'vividly'.

Speaking to Extra, she said that "I don't remember his illness, really, but I remember him so dearly and vividly."

She also explained that she feels his loss even more keenly now that she has a family of her own.

She said that "That's where you feel the real ripoff. He's not here to be a grandparent."

The 44 year old married cameraman Daniel Moder in 2002, and they have three children together: twins Hazel and Finn (aged 7) and Henry (aged 5).

She maintains a healthy lifestyle, and attends regular preventative cancer screenings.

She's also closely watching her diet, saying that "[I'm trying] to eat in a very close to the earth way, a very organic way."

Julia currently has two films in development: August: Osage County alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, and The Normal Heart, directed by Glee creator Ryan Murphy.
