McGregor joins 'August Ossage County'

Ewan McGregor will play Julia Roberts' husband in new black comedy 'August: Osage County'.

The Scottish actor will play Julia Roberts' character's husband Bill Fordham in the new black comedy, based on the play by Tracy Letts.

Meryl Streep stars as a prescription-drug taking mother and the film tells the story of her relationship with her family; Julia plays her daughter Barbara.

John Wells is directing the project, which has been adapted for the screen by Letts, while George Clooney and Grant Heslov will be producing.

Juliette Lewis, Abigail Breslin and Dermot Mulroney are also starring in the movie, with Benedict Cumberbatch also rumoured to be in negotiations for a role.

Ewan - who is best known for roles in 'Trainspotting' and various 'Star Wars' films - was most recently seen in 'Haywire' and 'Salmon Fishing in the Yemen' with Emily Blunt and he will next be seen in 'Jack the Giant Killer' alongside Nicholas Hoult.
