Julia Roberts in 'Mirror, Mirror' and Other Big Stars in Fairy Tale Roles

Julia Roberts' latest film, "Mirror, Mirror," is coming to theaters at the end of the month. While the gorgeous actress known for her big grin is famous for her romantic comedies, this role will be quite a dramatic change. The "Pretty Woman" star will play the ultimate evil stepmother, the wicked Queen, who is a witch obsessed with maintaining her renowned beauty -- no matter what the cost.

We think it sounds like it might have been a lot of fun for her to play such a different part, and it will also be interesting for fans of the star to see a little of her dark side come out! In an even more evil twist from the original story of Snow White, in this version the Queen is also the romantic rival for the Prince.

Don't worry, it won't be too terrifying. The film is rated PG and said to be family friendly. Roberts' children won't get to watch their mom in this fairy-tale, however. The "Runaway Bride" actress refuses to let her kids watch any television or movies of any kind at all. She's the mother of seven-year-old twins and a four-year-old.

The 41-year-old explained to reporters, "We have a pretty rigid viewing feeling in our house. We're more book people in our house. I was raised on television, but for us we just feel there's a real time and a place for it. I don't think it's that mysterious, really, (to limit their viewing time), and it's nice that it opens up other options, for stories and poetry and talking, sharing ideas."

We have a feeling they'll see their mother on the big screen at some point in their lives, she'd be hard to miss!

There have been a few big stars who have played fairy-tale roles in the past; even Johnny Depp has had a turn or two. The original short story, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," was created by Washington Irving who was born in the late 18th century. In 1999, Tim Burton brought the story to the big screen, and the sexy actor was exceptional as the famous Ichabod Crane. While the original character was a frightened school teacher, the movie depicted him as a somewhat bumbling police constable. It's still one of our favorite Depp films to date.

Although not technically a fairy-tale, Tim Burton also brought the children's book, "Alice in Wonderland," to film in 2010 with Depp starring as the Mad Hatter. It was perfect for the eccentric, but super hot 48-year-old. In fact, we'd love to see him in a similar role again soon.

Drew Barrymore starred in 1998's "Ever After: A Cinderella Story," a beautifully done film and a refreshing twist on the classic fairy-tale. We'd love to see the adorable actress star in a similar movie!
