Julia ROberts in Mirror Mirror

Tarsem Singhs adaptation of a Grimm fairy tale and Disney classic Mirror Mirror opened on Friday. The latest live action adaptation of Snow White features Lily Collins as Snow White opposite Hollywood sweetheart Julia Roberts as the wicked stepmother.

The 23-year old daughter of British musician Phil Collins has done some notable films such as The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock, Priest with Paul Bettany and Abduction opposite Twilight saga star Taylor Lautner. What makes this latest outing different aside from being a live action adaptation of a Disney classic is that Collins got to work with a Hollywood icon.

Roberts has gone on a hiatus to focus on her family. The 44-year old star still remains a recognizable name, appearing in movies over a span of 24 years but she has not outdone her hit movies since the 1990s including Pretty Woman, Notting Hill, Runaway Bride and Erin Brockovich.

Singhs Mirror Mirror may not be the right vehicle for Roberts to reclaim her status in the top echelons of Hollywood judging from mixed reviews but Collins may get more mileage out of it as the films true star. While Roberts seemed hung up on her self-image in this film, Collins seemed more naturally fit for the role.

Overall the film could very well end up on home video or cable TV even before the wicked stepmother could say Mirror, mirror on the wall.
